Transport choices in Vietnam

Vietnam’s tourism authority describes domestic flights, trains and buses as options for travel between destinations. It highlights the length of journeys between the north, central region and south, so a map distance should not be treated as a short transfer. Vietnam National Authority of Tourism’s transport guide.

Northern, central and southern travel legs

Separate a Hanoi stay, a Da Nang programme and a Ho Chi Minh City arrival into their actual dated legs. If the group uses a domestic flight or train, provide the airport or station and onward address. For a cruise or boat excursion, name the departure point and check-in time; the road transfer does not by itself include the vessel booking.

For the local part of your request, explore Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

Check current Ho Chi Minh City domestic terminals

Vietnam Airlines and its group moved domestic operations to Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 during 2025. Older directions that send every domestic passenger to Terminal 1 are therefore unreliable. Confirm the airport, operating airline and terminal for each flight; one airline group’s move should not be applied to every carrier.

For a programme spanning northern, central and southern Vietnam, show the domestic flights or rail journeys between regions as separate stages. Request the local road transfers needed at each end, with luggage and hotel entrances. A vehicle for meetings in Ho Chi Minh City is a different duty from onward touring towards Can Tho. The Ho Chi Minh City guide includes the terminal context for that arrival.

Keep long-distance connections separate from local hire

List each flight or train and the road transfers required before and after it. For a boat or cruise excursion, include the correct departure point and boarding time. A northern, central and southern programme should identify separate overnight bases and local duties.

Use the airport-transfer guide for flight collections and minibus guidance for smaller local groups. Confirm luggage capacity, collection points, waiting and any different vehicles proposed for the regions visited.

Your Vietnam transport questions

Should Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City be treated as a short road transfer?

No. Plan the long-distance leg explicitly and compare suitable flights or trains with a full touring route. Include the local transfer requirements at both ends.

What details are needed for group transport in Vietnam?

List each flight or train and the road transfers required before and after it. For a boat or cruise excursion, include the correct departure point and boarding time. A northern, central and southern programme should identify separate overnight bases and local duties. Confirm the proposed vehicle and quote inclusions before booking.

Do all Tan Son Nhat domestic flights still arrive at Terminal 1?

No. Vietnam Airlines Group moved domestic operations to Terminal 3 during 2025. Check the operating airline and flight’s current terminal before issuing group pickup instructions.

Connect the arrival airport with the actual destination

Start with the airport on the flight booking, then identify the actual hotel or venue entrance in the relevant city guide. Include the terminal, passenger and luggage totals, and required arrival time. The operator must confirm the collection point and route; a geographic airport reference does not establish a passenger service or transfer availability.

For a flight booked to Can Tho International Airport (VCA), use Can Tho transport planning to prepare the destination end of the transfer.
