Rome coach permits and historic-centre access

Confirm the permit for the route

Roma Mobilità operates separate ZTL BUS A, B and C zones. The central ZTL BUS C is generally closed to tourist coaches, with specific authorised exceptions. A general coach booking does not establish access to every historic-centre address. Give the exact hotel and venue addresses so the assigned vehicle and required permits can be checked.

Treat the Vatican and Colosseum as planned movements

The official coach scheme has specific arrangements for the Colosseum and Vatican areas. Match the transport request to your actual admission reservations and give the operator both the arrival and return collection requirements. A stop that works for one visit may not suit the next. For groups with limited mobility, describe the boarding assistance and acceptable walking distance before choosing the vehicle.

Local guidance checked 12 September 2026: Roma Mobilità tourist-coach guidance. Recheck the official guidance for your travel date.

Example: two visits with separate admission times

If your Rome day includes both the Vatican and the Colosseum, send the two admission times and the order you prefer. Request an assessment of the permitted stops, walking time and driver waiting arrangements between them. Leave room for the group to regroup before collection. This is a sample planning brief, not confirmation that a particular coach can enter either area.

Request the vehicle capacity, luggage allowance, waiting arrangement and any access or parking charges in writing. Compare coach hire options or request your Rome quote.

Planning your Rome journey

How should I organise several timed visits in Rome?

Put the venues in order with a required arrival time for each one. Use full addresses in Rome, Lazio, and distinguish a waiting period from a new pickup. The schedule can then be checked as a complete itinerary.

Can our Rome enquiry include an onward visit to Latina?

Yes, you can request an onward leg to Latina. The map references are about 58 km apart in a straight line. This does not establish the road distance or vehicle availability. Give the onward address, the visit duration and whether you need to return.

What should I include for arrivals at Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA)?

Use the airport shown on your ticket, such as Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA), along with the flight number, date, terminal if known and number of bags. State any arrivals on different flights; collection arrangements and waiting terms need confirmation.

Can you promise a coach drop-off at our hotel door in central Rome?

The address and vehicle need checking against the applicable access rules first. Where direct access is unavailable, ask for a permitted alternative and discuss the walk with the group before confirming the itinerary.
