Request coach or minibus hire with a driver in Italy for airport transfers, group visits and travel between overnight bases. Provide your hotel addresses, luggage and fixed visit times so the route, vehicle and historic-centre access can be assessed before booking.
Choosing transport between Italian destinations
Italy offers high-speed, intercity and regional trains as well as scheduled coach and local public-transport services. For a direct trip between major stations, compare those options with a private vehicle. A group with several hotel pickups, substantial luggage or stops away from stations should describe the entire route for a hire assessment. Italia.it explains the main transport choices.

Historic centres and coach permits
A confirmed hotel reservation does not establish permission for a coach to drive to the hotel door. Access and passenger stops must be checked for the municipality and vehicle. Rome, for example, operates a tourist-bus permit system and restricts its central ZTL BUS C except for specific authorisations. Roma Mobilità publishes the current permit and stopping guidance.
Provide the accommodation address and any reduced-mobility needs when requesting a quote. Ask where the group will get off, how far it is to the entrance and where the vehicle will wait. Permit and parking arrangements should be clear before confirmation; a rule for Rome should not be assumed to apply in Florence or another city.
Keep timed attraction visits in the route brief. A Rome permit or a suitable drop-off does not reserve admission, and an attraction ticket does not establish coach access. The visit booking and transport arrangements need to be coordinated as separate parts of the itinerary.
Build the Italy hire around each overnight base
For an illustrative Rome–Florence–Venice journey, distinguish the airport arrival, intercity days carrying all suitcases and city days when bags stay at the hotel. Give the dates at each base before deciding whether to request a vehicle throughout or transfers on selected days. A rail leg can also be paired with local station collections; identify where each road service starts and ends.
Venice needs an explicit handover plan. Venezia Unica lists road-arrival points including Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto, and separately explains the city’s water transport. Use its arrival guide and onward transport information to identify the connection your hotel needs. Vehicle choice and quote inclusions
Ask for a vehicle based on passengers, suitcases, equipment and boarding requirements. Compare coach hire with a driver and minibus hire, then have the vehicle suitability and availability confirmed for the route.
Request a breakdown of what applies to your journey: waiting, city permits, parking, tolls, overnight driver arrangements and additional stops. For island travel, state whether flights or ferries are already booked and whether separate vehicles are required on each island; do not assume a mainland quote includes those connections.
Separate mainland regions from the island programme
Northern bases
Use Genoa for the Ligurian part of the visit, and Bolzano or Trento for the corresponding northern stays. The guides help organise the local arrival and accommodation details. If a day continues to a mountain property, supply its exact entrance and any equipment, and ask for the final approach to be checked for the proposed vehicle.
Central and southern mainland stops
For Latina, Pescara, Foggia, Bari or Catanzaro, provide each city’s hotel or venue and the dated order of the journey. Use the individual guides when deciding which local collections need to be included. A rail arrival, a stop during a road tour and a vehicle waiting at a venue are different duties even when the passenger group is the same.
Sardinia and Sicily require separate arrival plans
Cagliari is the local guide for the Sardinia stay; Palermo covers a different island, Sicily. Identify the flight or ferry for each arrival and the road transfers required on that island. A quotation covering mainland Italy should not be assumed to include either crossing or a local island vehicle.

Can a coach reach a hotel in an Italian historic centre?
That must be checked for the city, address and vehicle. A permitted passenger stop may be separate from the hotel entrance, so agree the walking distance before booking.
