Read the transport guide

Transport choices in Norway

Norway has rail, scheduled buses and ferry connections, with the national Entur planner helping identify public-transport options. Long-distance coaches also serve destinations around the fjords and mountains. Visit Norway’s getting-around guide.

Build the schedule around the actual route

A Norway enquiry should include the exact overnight locations, fjord visits and ferry or boat departures. Do not use a straight-line distance as a driving schedule. If the route includes a crossing or a mountain road, ask for the operation on the intended date to be checked and include a realistic plan for boarding, visits and the return journey.

For the local part of your request, explore Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger.

OSL and Torp need different arrival plans

Oslo Airport at Gardermoen (OSL) and Torp Sandefjord Airport (TRF) are separate airports. Torp’s rail connection uses Torp station plus a shuttle to the terminal; the airport station name is therefore not a substitute for the actual flight arrival point. Use the booked airport code on both the arrival and return request.

A group arriving in the Oslo area before travelling to Bergen or a fjord destination should identify any intervening train, flight or overnight stop. Compare the complete journey rather than assuming one Oslo airport transfer price or schedule applies to both airports. For private collection, agree where passengers meet after baggage reclaim and where their vehicle can board them with luggage.

Torp Airport: train and terminal shuttle.

Quote fjord journeys as complete days

Set out each ferry or boat departure, the intended visits and overnight accommodation. Identify any section completed on foot or by another transport service, together with the road-vehicle meeting point afterwards. Include luggage and mobility requirements so the proposed stops can be assessed.

Use the coach-hire guide for a continuous touring request. The budget guide helps distinguish the vehicle price from applicable ferry, parking, waiting and overnight costs; confirm each inclusion for your Norway route.

Define the Trondheim stay within the wider journey

Local movements and onward connections

Use Trondheim for the city’s arrival, hotel and venue brief, and list any onward rail, flight or sailing separately. For a programme with several overnight bases, state whether the vehicle travels with the group or is required only around the Trondheim stay. The city guide helps you prepare local pickup details without assuming every later Norwegian destination forms one continuous road duty.

Your Norway transport questions

Can a fjord tour be quoted from the city names alone?

The city names are only a starting point. Provide the actual stops, overnight bases and any ferry or boat bookings so the route and daily schedule can be assessed.

What details are needed for group transport in Norway?

Set out each ferry or boat departure, the intended visits and overnight accommodation. Identify any section completed on foot or by another transport service, together with the road-vehicle meeting point afterwards. Include luggage and mobility requirements so the proposed stops can be assessed. Confirm the proposed vehicle and quote inclusions before booking.

Can the same Oslo transfer instructions be used for OSL and TRF?

No. Gardermoen and Torp are separate airports. Torp rail passengers also use a terminal shuttle, so distinguish the airport terminal from Torp railway station when requesting a pickup.

Transport references

Source dates are shown separately. Recheck airport instructions and local access guidance for your travel date.

Connect the arrival airport with the actual destination

Start with the airport on the flight booking, then identify the actual hotel or venue entrance in the relevant city guide. Include the terminal, passenger and luggage totals, and required arrival time. The operator must confirm the collection point and route; a geographic airport reference does not establish a passenger service or transfer availability.

For a flight booked to Kristiansand Airport (KRS), use Kristiansand transport planning to prepare the destination end of the transfer.

For a flight booked to Sandefjord Airport, Torp (TRF), use Fredrikstad transport planning to prepare the destination end of the transfer.
