Serralves visits: decide how much of the park the group will walk
Serralves publishes several park routes with different lengths and durations, including a route intended for visitors with reduced mobility. Choose the part of the estate your party wants to see before fixing a coach collection time. A museum visit, a park walk and a combined programme can produce very different transport schedules.
Tell the operator whether the party needs a single return transfer or a vehicle that remains available between Serralves, the hotel and another Porto stop. Confirm the permitted passenger set-down and the actual walk to your reserved meeting point with the venue; its visitor parking information does not automatically establish a coach bay. Share mobility needs with both the venue and transport organiser so the visit and the transfer work together.
Serralves’ visit information requires advance booking for guided group visits. Use that confirmation to set the group’s ready-to-enter time, keeping admission arrangements separate from the vehicle quote. For a later journey to Lisbon or another city, add it to the same Portugal group transport plan.

Prepare your Porto journey brief
- Arrival: If your flight uses Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) or Vila Real Airport (VRL), give the airport on your ticket, flight number and arrival date. Add the full Porto hotel or venue address; these airport references do not establish a road route or a collection point.
- An airport arrival with several stops: If your flight is booked at Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), use Vila Nova de Gaia arrival planning and Guimaraes arrival planning for the separate hotel or venue addresses. Say whether the enquiry covers one continuous itinerary or individual local transfers, with passengers and bags for each leg.
- Group and return: Include passengers, luggage and mobility needs. Put any return date, pickup time and departure flight or train in the message field.
Other stops to consider
Compare Porto with these other destinations in Portugal. Distances below are geographic references, not road distances or quoted journey times.
Porto Airport: compare the final stop, not just the airport leg
Porto Airport lists the Purple Line E metro, city buses and regional shuttles as different onward options. Its transport guide also lists services towards Campanhã, Braga and Guimarães. Check the destination on the service you are considering: arriving at a transport interchange is a different journey from reaching your group’s hotel entrance.
For a private Porto airport transfer, give the OPO flight, the complete hotel address and each passenger’s luggage needs. If your party is split between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, list both properties and the required order. Ask for the terminal meeting point, any walk to the vehicle and the waiting allowance to be stated in the quotation.
Ribeira and the historic centre need an access plan
Porto’s municipal controlled-access guidance identifies areas including Ribeira, Flores and Santa Catarina and says access is restricted to registered users. A hotel reservation is not evidence that a particular coach can reach its door. Send the hotel’s arrival instructions so the operator can check the vehicle, approach and any permission needed.
Agree a permitted passenger stop and the walking or luggage handover from it before fixing a sightseeing timetable. Keep the coach’s longer waiting location separate. For a Porto–Gaia visit or a wider Portugal itinerary, identify each entrance and visit duration; a place name alone does not establish which side of the river the group needs to reach.
Airport references for Porto
These airport references are ordered by their approximate straight-line distance from the Porto map reference. Road journeys can be longer and may involve different access arrangements; choose your actual arrival airport when requesting a quote.
Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport
Approx. 12 km straight-line
Vila Real Airport
Approx. 76 km straight-line
Aerodromo Goncalves Lobato (Viseu Airport)
Approx. 77 km straight-line
For flight arrivals, compare airport coach and minibus transfers and include the booked airport, flight number and luggage in your enquiry.
Planning your Porto journey
What is the distance between OPO and Porto?
The airport and destination map references are approximately 12 km apart in a straight line. A road journey can differ substantially. Provide the actual address in Porto; the map distance is not a promise of transfer time or fare.
Where will our group meet the vehicle at OPO?
The meeting arrangement for Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) must be confirmed with the booking. Do not assume a coach can collect at any terminal door. Give the flight and terminal details, and keep the lead passenger contact available for the agreed collection instructions.
Can we continue from Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia?
Include the next stop in Vila Nova de Gaia and its address in the initial brief. State whether it is a short visit, an overnight stay or the final destination; those are different vehicle and driver requirements.
How do the Vila Nova de Gaia and Guimaraes stops compare from Porto?
From the Porto geographic reference, Vila Nova de Gaia is approximately 2.7 km away in a straight line and Guimaraes is 42.1 km away. Vila Nova de Gaia is listed in Porto; Guimaraes is listed in Braga. Compare the time needed at each visit before choosing the pickup order. These are map measurements, not driving distances; a feasible route and vehicle allocation must be assessed in the quotation.
Can a coach collect directly outside a Ribeira hotel?
That needs an address-specific check. Ribeira includes controlled-access streets; the hotel and operator should agree a permitted stop and any walking or luggage handover before travel.
Connect the journey details
For a smaller group, describe luggage, boarding requirements and the full day’s movements in the minibus enquiry. Minibus Hire Guide: Seats, Luggage & Booking.
For the rest of the itinerary, see Portugal transport planning and airport transfers, tours excursions. Availability and the vehicle specification are confirmed in your quotation.
Plan the next part of your journey
For a northern Portugal itinerary joining Porto with Viana do Castelo, identify whether the movement is a day visit or a move to another overnight base. Include the venue entrance, return deadline and any luggage that travels with the group.
For a Porto-based group visiting Aveiro, give the actual visit entrance, time needed there and the return pickup point. State whether passengers return to their Porto hotel or continue south with luggage, so a day visit can be compared with an onward transfer.
