Local planning for your Durban group
ICC and Exhibition Centre use different addresses
Durban ICC publishes 45 Bram Fischer Road for the convention centre and 11 Walnut Road for Durban Exhibition Centre. An instruction that says only 'Durban conference centre' can leave the arrival ambiguous. Send the building and event entrance shown on the delegate information, plus the registration time and the name of the person meeting the group.
Use the venue's coach access guidance
The ICC's parking information identifies coach access via the ramp at the main entrance on Bram Fischer Road. Confirm its use for the particular event and vehicle before circulating instructions. The passenger unloading plan should also name where the driver waits and how the coach returns for collection; ordinary visitor parking is not automatically a coach layover arrangement.
Separate airport arrivals from delegate shuttles
For a King Shaka arrival, provide the flight number, expected passenger count and bags, then identify the first hotel or venue. A later hotel-to-conference shuttle needs its own collection order and passenger allocations. If an evening function finishes at a different building, give that address and a new meeting point rather than reusing the morning instructions. Include accessibility needs for the movement from coach to event entrance.
Prepare your Durban journey brief
- Arrival: If your flight uses King Shaka International Airport (DUR) or Pietermaritzburg Airport (PZB), give the airport on your ticket, flight number and arrival date. Add the full Durban hotel or venue address; these airport references do not establish a road route or a collection point.
- Check the complete route between stops: The geographic references put Pietermaritzburg (about 67 km) and Newcastle (about 257 km) from Durban in a straight line. Use those destination guides to collect the actual entrances and required arrival times. Road distance, access and any non-road connection need checking against the complete itinerary, rather than these map measurements.
- Group and return: Include passengers, luggage and mobility needs. Put any return date, pickup time and departure flight or train in the message field.

Planning your Durban journey
What is the distance between DUR and Durban?
The airport and destination map references are approximately 28 km apart in a straight line. A road journey can differ substantially. Provide the actual address in Durban; the map distance is not a promise of transfer time or fare.
Where will our group meet the vehicle at DUR?
The meeting arrangement for King Shaka International Airport (DUR) must be confirmed with the booking. Do not assume a coach can collect at any terminal door. Give the flight and terminal details, and keep the lead passenger contact available for the agreed collection instructions.
Can we continue from Durban to Pietermaritzburg?
Include the next stop in Pietermaritzburg and its address in the initial brief. State whether it is a short visit, an overnight stay or the final destination; those are different vehicle and driver requirements.
How do the Pietermaritzburg and Newcastle stops compare from Durban?
From the Durban geographic reference, Pietermaritzburg is approximately 67.0 km away in a straight line and Newcastle is 256.8 km away. A further destination reference is East London, approximately 459.0 km from Durban. The more distant stop needs to be treated as a separate stage of the itinerary, including any connections or overnight plans. These are map measurements, not driving distances; a feasible route and vehicle allocation must be assessed in the quotation.
